Downwell Group is proud to be working with Bouygues UK, acting as developer and main contractor, on the regeneration of the Tustin Estate in South London on behalf of Southwark Council.
Located to the north of Old Kent Road and west of Ilderton Road, the entire scheme will deliver nearly 700 new homes, helping to create a brighter future for the local community. The project is also the first large-scale development procured through Pagabo’s Developer Led Framework, marking it as a landmark scheme within the UK housing sector.
The development spans four phases, with Downwell Group having successfully completed Phase 1 and currently delivering works on Phase 2.
Our role is to deliver a comprehensive enabling works package, bringing together expertise from across the Group, including Inner City Environmental and Inner City Scaffolding.
Our scope of work includes:
- Setting up the site and preparing it for works
- Safe removal of asbestos (Inner City Environmental)
- Stripping out all internal fixtures and fittings
- Installing scaffolding to support safe working (Inner City Scaffolding)
- Carefully protecting a live electricity substation from all works
- Reducing and securing the boiler house chimney
- Demolishing existing buildings
- Removing building foundations and ground slabs to required depths
- Crushing materials on site for reuse
- Preparing the ground for future construction: piling enablement works include undertaking a ground remediation process and installing the piling mat.
- Removing waste and keeping the site clean and organised
This project highlights Downwell Group’s ability to deliver complex, multi-disciplinary enabling works safely and efficiently, in partnership with leading Tier 1 contractors – The Downwell Difference.
We are proud to support Bouygues UK and Southwark Council in delivering much-needed new homes and long-term value for the local community.
